About the Studio

We love to dance.

The Studio Dance School opened its doors in the Kennebecasis Valley in August of
2003. In our inception year, The Studio had an enrollment of 150 students with
one full time teacher. Our enrollment is now over 400 strong with a second
studio located in Saint John and a staff of seven. We teach over 60 classes each
week to students ranging in age from 3 to adult. We are also home to 5
competitive dance troupes and a competitive Hip Hop Crew. Over the past few years we have
expanded our repertoire of classes from Tap, Jazz, Lyrical and Hip Hop to
classes in Modern/Contemporary & Ballet. We also offer workshops from various
guest teachers whenever the opportunity arises.

Since we began 18 years ago, we have trained many dancers, but we have also
developed a comprehensive “Teacher-in-Training-program”. Our apprenticeship
program is one of a kind in the area. Participants who qualify to participate in
this unique program are required to assist teachers in the classroom, attend
regular workshops, carry out assignments, and successfully complete written and
practical exams. All of this is done on top of their own personal dance
training. It is a very intensive and demanding program which requires a
considerable commitment on the part of the dancer. The result is a team of
highly trained, professional dance teachers that we are extremely proud to have
representing our school.

We are pleased to be part of such a wonderful community and do our best to get
involved whenever and wherever we can. The Studio Dance School hosts an annual
Christmas Food Drive for the KV Food bank. Our staff has taken our skills in
dance instruction into local schools, figure skating clinics as well as
performing in community events such as the IWK Telethon, Dragon Boat Festival,
St. George Church Women’s Shelter and Hestia House.
